In December Therese and I journeyed down to South Africa for Michack’s graduation. Michack has finished his last year of training at the EcoTraining School in Makuleke – THE PIONEER & LEADER IN SAFARI GUIDE AND WILDLIFE TRAINING. They were 14 students, all from South Africa, except for a young lady from Germany.
EcoTraining is situated an hours by car from Pafuri Gate in Makuleke, Limpopo.
Here they lived in small houses in the middle of the bush. They had showers and toilets, but no electricity or connection to the outside world.
They also stayed at a camp in Botswana for a periode of time
During the final months they were stationed on different lodges as trainees – Mishack got Sabi Sand, on Sabi Sabi Lodge.
Here they also learned to clear the roads of the trees the elephants knock down
He got to test his skills as both a tracker and a guide
After the holidays he will apply for a job as a professional Field Guide. We are very proud of him, and look forward to see what the future holds for him.
